[AU] - Arya returns to the North

“You must give yourself to Him of Many Faces.” The Kindly Man told her. “Who are you?” He would ask, over and over and she’d always reply saying, “No One.” Each time, it was lie; both she and the Kindly Man knew. But there came a day when Arya allowed herself to slip away. She threw away her vengeance, her name, her family and bathed in Death’s black cloak. The girl’s sacrifice didn’t go unrewarded and thus the Many Faced God gave her the Power she sought.

For years Arya Stark of Winterfell had lain dead in No One’s bottomless pit. And she continued to slowly rot amidst that darkness until No One traveled across the Narrow Sea to seek her next target. It was there in the woods of the Riverlands that they met. A large beast with yellow orbs possessing fur crafted of smoke and snow approached her in the black of night. ,

On that evening, No One’s eyes shut, just like she closed countless others. The she-wolf had slain her and through No One’s death, Arya Stark was reborn. Together, they traveled back to Winterfell. The Forgotten daughter of Ned Stark and her Direwolf had finally come home.

I just think Dany’s taking too long to decide whether or not she’s a champion of supreme right, or if she’s just looking for her place in the world. I truly think you can’t focus on both, and I can’t help but see some self-serving nature of all of what she’s doing. Maybe I’m cynical, but I think she’s getting really bratty. Sometimes during her chapters, I just…ugh.

She clearly realizes she screwed up, but I think it’s rather late for that. Honestly, I don’t think it’s her duty to take the throne. It would be truly her duty if she were the best for the job. I don’t think she is at all. I think the problem is that no one character fits what Westeros needs, and they’re all fucked either way. Daenerys isn’t Viserys, but she’s still a Targaryen, and I refuse to believe that there’s nothing self-serving about her “noble crusade for what is right.” I think I would respect her more if she was at least more honest with herself.

Where I’m at in the books, she’s all over the place, and I wish there were someone to reign her in, and ugghh. I’m not liking her so much now, and maybe I’m being too cynical with GrrM, but I would rather underestimate someone than overestimate them. Either I’ll be right, or I’ll be pleasantly surprised with how the ending goes :/

Duty has nothing to do with being right for the job. Stannis often speaks of being King as his duty. He doesn’t want it and its not a matter of wanting. Since Robert had no legit heirs, by Westerosi Law, Stannis is legally obligated to sit the Iron Throne. It is his duty(which by definition is  a moral or legal obligation.)

Even though the Baratheon line took the Throne by force, as the last Targaryen the Throne technically belongs to Dany. It is her Birthright, it is her legal obligation to sit on the Iron Throne. Is she a good ruler? No/Not yet. She’s a child and she has no idea how to govern. But she’s a good conqueror and actually has a bit of battle tactic expertise.

Like i said, she isn’t doing what she’s doing out of serving herself, its part of it, but its not the core of her her motives. If you really think she’s that selfish then you’re truly mistaking her characterization.

and being cynical or not, underestimating GRRM isn’t even realistic in my opinion. he’s an excellent author and believing that he’d something that cliche with Dany’s storyline is basically blasphemy. i’m not putting him on a pedestal or anything, its pretty much fact. have a little more faith in George.

The truth bout GRRM is he will take your expectations and fuck you with them then do something wholly unexpected. He will troll your feels, and lead you down a path to have it dead end. What i have found is just enjoy the ride, he will reveal things in due time and it will be much better than what you expect (on the whole) the books have tons of “wild cards” and anything can happen. As far as the show, its a beast of a different color using the books as a guide so what D&D might do is based on GRRM’s discretion at the time he’s asked for his opinion and it might possibly be something he wouldn’t consider for the books. So just enjoy the ride, its a good one!
